Course Description: Tonic Function refers to Hubert Godard’s wide-ranging perspective on movement. Tonic Function speaks to the role of gravity, perception, coordination, and expression in each individual’s experience of being and living. Rebecca and Aline have been inspired by Godard’s approach since 1990 and integrate this perspective into every Rolfing & Rolf Movement session. The spring study group will inquire into three themes at the heart of Tonic Function: ●Perception●Expression●WalkingEach session includes embodiment practices that give you tools to use for yourself and your clients, as well as case studies, presentations, and discussion of concepts to help you ground theory in practice. We will draw from Aline’s upcoming book, Reimagining the Body, for reading assignments that expand and deepen each class topic.
