Course Description: Somassage® is a unique stand-alone session that's great for prospective clients that are interested in SI, but maybe not ready to commit to the full Series. In this hands-on workshop you'll deepen your fascial knowledge, body mechanics, touch and bodyreading skills in addition to feeling confident in giving the 1.5 hour Somassage® session. Upon completion of the course, licensed practitioners will have permission to use the Somassage® trademark, all participants will have the tools to successfully use Somassage® to support others in a significant and meaningful way that supports the directionality and concepts of traditional SI. Concepts that you will Learn:– Somassage® techniques & theory– The language of connective tissue in the body– Compression & suspension mechanics– How gravity effects the body– How to recognize holding patterns in the fascial network– Soma's Holographic Body Reading: an effective structural analysis model– Soma's Three Brain Model: a body/mind model for client assessment– How to use Somassage® for treatment specific work– A protocol for a full 1.5 hour Somassage® session

Instructor Bio(s): Denise Foster Scott CASP, LMT, BCSI, Soma Core Faculty:Seeking a meaningful career, Denise left the world of aviation to receive her training as a Structural Integrator at the Soma Institute of Neuromuscular Integration® in 2007. She has special interest in anatomy and structure and pays close attention to the relationship between form and function in her work with clients and students. Denise is certified by the Certification Board for Structural IntegrationSM and has devoted many volunteer hours to the International Association of Structural Integration®. She has published several case studies about structural integration, and is a lead teacher and core faculty member at the Soma Institute.Jesse Guerrero CASP, LMT, Soma Core Faculty:Jesse has been in private practice since 2002. He began his connection with Soma Neuromuscular Integration® (SNI) when he received the Soma Series at the age of eight. Shortly thereafter, his Aunt, Karen Bolesky, took over the Soma Institute of Neuromuscular Integration®. He credits this work for helping him overcome severe asthma and rehabilitating multiple sport injuries and traumas. Through these experiences and years of watching students’ positive evolution, he was inspired to gain his SNI® certification and later begin teaching Soma. Recently, he and his wife, Kelsi Giswold have been given Karen's blessing to carry the Soma Institute forward. They moved the school to Langley, Washington on Whidbey Island and are looking forward to offering the first full SI Training at the new location in January 2022.
