Come Home to Your Feet: A Whole Person Experience of Foundations

Instructor: Mary Bond

Organizational Host: Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health

Credits:  23 IASI CE Credits

Course Description:

This program is open to all who seek understanding of their precious and sometimes troublesome feet. It offers Structural Integration practitioners and other somatic movement professionals opportunity to gain body reading confidence and success in creating practical and transformative movement solutions for clients. The leisurely pace and additional activities at Kripalu Center allow time for personal embodiment and integration.

We will:

  • Study the bony articulations of the feet and the biomechanical relationships between feet, pelvis and spine
  • Understand the foot patterns and problems we see in ourselves and others
  • Discover the effects of foot mobility and support on the function of legs, hips, pelvis, and spine
  • Observe the effects of foot mobility and support on respiration, balance and locomotion
  • Learn self-help for deficiencies in our foundations
  • Apply new perceptions to the practice of any somatic discipline, and to daily living

Instructor Bio:

Mary Bond studied with Dr. Ida Rolf from 1969 to 1972. Formerly Chair of the US Rolf Movement® faculty, she has been involved in movement education from the early days with Judith Aston, and has been profoundly influenced by the work of Hubert Godard. She is author of The New Rules of Posture, which has been translated into five languages, and a new multimedia book, Your Body Mandala: Posture as a Path to Presence. Her accessible teaching style turns fascia research and brain science into embodied and practical tools for healthy living. It is her joy to share her perspective of movement education.
