Core Integration Visceral Manipulation
Module Three of Four

Instructor: Alyssa Dodson, BCSI

IASI CE Credits: Type 2 - 24 CE Credits per Module

Course Description:

The fascia of the viscera has strong effects on the structure. Releasing strains in the visceral fascia can be very helpful in enhancing core transmission and organizing the spine, pelvis, and shoulder girdle. This comprehensive four module approach will cover indirect and direct work with the organs of the pelvis, abdomen, and thorax. Detailed anatomy and the structural relationships of the viscera will be central to this class. Normal and abnormal mobility and motility will be covered. Core Integration Visceral Manipulation can serve as a valuable additional practice discipline to existing Structural Integration work, as well as a way to deepen understanding of the relationship of viscera to the biomechanics functioning of the body. The course is designed as a modular approach to teaching Core Integration Visceral Manipulation developed by Liz Gaggini over the course of 25 years.

  • Course size is limited to eight students so that everyone receives specialized attention.
  • The course is designed to appeal to practitioners who have previously studied viscera and wish to deepen their understanding of theory and technique and also to practitioners who have not yet studied this material.
  • The location is in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, New York City, near the subway just north of Manhattan. It is surrounded by nature in a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood.
  • In between each Module, there will be an online study session, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions and talk about strategies.
  • Each Module will explore strategies to integrate the Core Integration Visceral Manipulation within the Structural Integration series work.
  • The first Module is a prerequisite for the following Modules.

Instructor Bio:

Alyssa Dodson completed her initial training in 2002 at The Guild for Structural Integration with Emmett Hutchins and Peter Melchior. Since then she has been in private practice in New York City. In 2005 she began studying with Liz Gaggini and became her teaching assistant from 2007-2016.

Alyssa offers classes in Biomechanics as well as the Core Integration Visceral Manipulation. Both classes are based on the approach developed by Liz Gaggini. Alyssa also mentors practitioners and oversees specialized study groups in Biomechanics and Core Integration Visceral Manipulation.

Along with her Structural Integration practice and teaching, Alyssa brings 15 years of both performing and teaching Martha Graham Technique as well as movement alignment/education at elite schools and festivals. Among them are; NYU Dance Education Division, Tanglewood Music Center, the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, The MET Opera Lindemann Young Artists Program, La Guardia High School for the Performing Arts, Manhattan School of Music, Mannes School of Music, Julliard Music Division, Cooper Union and Interlochen Arts Academy.
