What do you enjoy most about practicing Structural Integration?

I love working with people who have real conviction and a desire to change, evolve, and resolve pain and discomfort in their bodies through SI and SI education.

What has been the biggest hurdle in your first year of practice?

The biggest hurdle has been encouraging clients to complete the 10 series; many clients want specific work, one or two sessions on a chronic pain area, or monthly tune-ups. I want to work with Ida’s 10 series as much as possible.

What has been the biggest accomplishment?

I think my biggest accomplishment so far is my full schedule. My goal is to book 10 to 15 clients per week. Consistently, I work with about 20 clients per week. I don’t complain. Instead, I make sure to attend yoga classes, hit the gym, and play tennis as much as possible to keep my body healthy and limber.

What makes you or your practice unique?

My background is in the photographic arts, and I still maintain a professional life as an artist. I also still teach art and photography at the University of Alaska. In 2012, after graduate school in photography and before attending the Rolf Institute, I studied massage at the Esalen Institute and eventually became an Esalen Massage Therapist with specific training in Gestalt-oriented bodywork. In 2013, I studied SI with Ed Maupin at Esalen. He was my first SI teacher and I loved learning from him. I also studied extensively with Perry and Johanna Holloman. Perry and Johanna have substantially influenced the way I practice SI. They are two of the most intelligent and analytical bodyworkers I know. I think my background is what makes my SI practice unique.
